An adaptation of the renowned tale by Miguel de Cervantes, this ballet features the misadventures of the deluded Don Quixote (Robert Helpmann), an older Spanish man who becomes convinced that he is a knight, and treks across the countryside looking for those in need of his service. Sancho Panza (Ray Powell), gamely joins in on Quixote’s quests and acts as his dutiful sidekick, while other characters, including Basilio (Rudolf Nureyev) and Kitri (Lucette Aldous), also factor into the story.
